Proof of Value - Invoice

When a claim is filed, we require a document that substantiates the value of the merchandise. It becomes important when verifying the declared package value assigned to the shipment, as the two dollar amounts can sometimes vary.

A commercial invoice is the preferred and usual way to provide the proof of value.  It shows a record of a transaction and shows:

-- What was sold
-- What is the value of the transaction
-- Who it was sold to and, usually, where it was shipped to

Invoices are typically PDF's generated from marketplaces, such as Shopify, Amazon, eBay, etc. Sometimes invoices are handwritten.

Some other examples of a proof of value can include:

-- A copy of the original purchase receipt for an item. The transaction/exchange must have taken place within the past 60 days
-- An appraisal of the item dated prior to when it was shipped, and within 60 days of shipping
-- Comparable sold listings of the item from websites such as eBay
